Many people have problems falling asleep each night – and of course, problems falling asleep can complicate your life the next day! And while there are many sleep aids to help you fall asleep, lots of people find that these sleep aids make them drowsy the next day. If you have had problems sleeping, and these problems have not been cured by sleeping pills or valerian root or melatonin – or, if these measures have left you feeling groggy the day after – pay attention. 

A relaxed mind and body will be the biggest aid in helping you sleep if you have been experiencing problems with sleeping. Conversely, one of the biggest things that can keep you from sleeping well is stress or tension in your body and mind. This means that finding the best way for you to relax your mind and body is also the best way for you to ease into sleep if you have been experiencing problems. 
One thing that can be a huge benefit when you are trying to relax your body is heat, and a shower is a great way to get heat on your body. You will relax your body before you go to bed if you take a shower at night, so consider switching to night if you usually take a shower in the morning. 
Tea is another way to relax your body using heat – but make sure you drink tea that is caffeine free, lest you worsen the problem. 
Stretching before you go to bed is another method many people have found helps them unwind in their body and sleep better. This stretching can take the form of the regular sorts of stretches you typically do before a workout, or it can take the form of yoga – which helps a lot of people relax. 
And another approach similar to yoga is meditation, which can help you calm your body and regulate your breathing. And if you decide that meditation is not for you, you can help your body unravel before bed by finding some breathing exercises that work for you and help you breathe regularly and deeply.
